Installing an air filter to remove dust, pollen, pet dander and other allergens and indoor pollutants from the air in your home (or business) can greatly increase the quality of the air you breath.

Spokane Comfort Systems, Inc. recommends Honeywell™ electrostatic air cleaners and AprilAire™ air filtration systems. Systems from either manufacturer are installed into the return air duct of your HVAC system to provide a whole-house solution.

In general, there are two types of airborne pollutants, those comprised of tiny particles or tiny organisms which is known as "particulate matter". These include dust, smoke, pollen, pet dander, dust mites, mold, etc.

The second type of pollutants are gases, (and usually invisible). Gaseous pollutants include VOC, (volatile organic compounds), which can be released into the air your breath from building materials like paints and adhesives, cleaning products and even from the furnishings in your home (or business).

Particle type indoor contaminants can be removed from the air using filters and gaseous pollutants can be removed by filters that are designed to absorb and neutralize the dangerous chemicals.

NOTE: In addition to installing an air cleaner, a carbon monoxide gas sensor should be installed in your home (or commercial building) as carbon monoxide can not be removed from the air by any filter system.
